1. Purpose
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern the use of the application (the “App”), operated by CONNECTIFY IOTY OU.The App enables users to contribute voluntarily and anonymously to a decentralized network used for geolocation and message routing of connected objects through the passive detection of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals.By installing or using the App, you agree to comply with these Terms.
2. Description of the Service
2.1. General Description
The App allows users to participate in a decentralized and anonymous signal detection network.
Its purpose is to improve geolocation services and communication capabilities for connected objects by collecting and processing technical radio signals emitted by nearby devices.
The App enables:
- Passive scanning of nearby Wi-Fi hotspot identifiers;
- Passive scanning of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) advertising messages;
- Transmission of anonymized and aggregated technical data with approximate geolocation;
- Decentralized processing for geolocation, routing, research, and analytics.
2.2. BLE Advertising and Message Routing
The App may scan, relay, and route Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) advertising messages based on the Connectify messaging standard.
These BLE messages:
- Contain no personal data;
- Are stateless and ephemeral;
- Are used solely to enable decentralized message routing between compatible connected devices;
- Do not allow identification, tracking, or profiling of users.
3. Privacy and Data Protection (GDPR Compliance)
3.1. No Personal Data Collection
The App does not collect, store, or process personal data that could directly or indirectly identify a user.
In particular, the App does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account identifiers;
- Advertising identifiers or persistent user IDs;
- User movement history or behavioral profiles.
3.2. Data Anonymization
All collected technical data is anonymized by design.
This includes:
- Processing identifiers through hashing, obfuscation, or aggregation;
- Using approximate and non-precise geolocation;
- Preventing any linkage between collected data and an individual or private premises.
3.3. Technical Identifiers of Third-Party Devices
The App processes technical identifiers such as:
- Wi-Fi MAC addresses broadcast by access points;
- BLE advertising identifiers emitted by nearby devices.
These identifiers:
- Belong to third-party devices, not to the user of the App;
- Are treated strictly as technical radio signals;
- Are never associated with a person, account, or user device.
3.4. Purpose Limitation
Collected data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Geolocation services for connected objects;
- Optimization of decentralized network performance;
- Research, mapping, and statistical analysis.
Data is:
- Never sold;
- Never shared for advertising purposes;
- Never used for user profiling or surveillance.
4. User Eligibility and Obligations
4.1. Eligibility
Use of the App is permitted to any individual of legal age or to minors with authorization from a legal guardian.
4.2. Voluntary Participation
Participation in the network is entirely voluntary.
Users may:
- Enable or disable data contribution at any time;
- Uninstall the App to immediately stop all participation.
4.3. Proper Use
Users agree not to:
- Use the App for illegal, malicious, or fraudulent purposes;
- Attempt to identify individuals from collected data;
- Reverse-engineer, intercept, or misuse network data;
- Violate applicable laws related to privacy, cybersecurity, or telecommunications.
4.4. Device Permissions and Consent
Certain App features require operating system permissions (such as Bluetooth, location access, or background processing).
These permissions:
- Are requested transparently by the operating system;
- Require explicit user consent;
- Can be revoked at any time via device settings.
5. Data Collected
5.1. Wi-Fi Scanning Clarification
The App performs passive Wi-Fi scanning only.
It:
- Does not connect to Wi-Fi networks;
- Does not intercept or analyze network traffic;
- Does not access internet content or credentials.Only publicly broadcast Wi-Fi identifiers are detected to improve geolocation accuracy.
5.2. Types of Data Collected
The App may collect the following technical data:
- Wi-Fi hotspot MAC addresses;
- BLE advertising identifiers;
- Signal strength and technical metadata;
- Approximate geolocation at time of detection;
- Timestamp of detection.
No collected data can be linked to a specific individual.
6. Rewards
Users may receive rewards for contributing to the network.
These rewards:
- Are distributed automatically based on contribution metrics;
- Do not constitute a salary, payment, or contractual compensation;
- Are provided solely as an incentive or recognition mechanism.
6.1. No Liability for Rewards Loss
CONNECTIFY IOTY OU shall not be held liable for loss of rewards due to:
- Connectivity issues;
- Device malfunction;
- Battery limitations;
- Network downtime;
- Application crashes or operating system restrictions.
Users remain responsible for maintaining a functional device and network access.
7. Intellectual Property
All components of the App, including software, algorithms, protocols, user interfaces, and documentation, are protected by intellectual property laws.
No part of the App may be copied, modified, distributed, or reverse-engineered without prior written authorization.
8. Security
The App applies industry-standard security measures, including:
- Encrypted data transmission;
- Decentralized and peer-to-peer architectures;
- On-device anonymization before transmission.
Despite these measures, no system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1. No Surveillance Guarantee
The App is not designed for surveillance, monitoring individuals, or tracking personal activity.Any attempt to use the App for such purposes is strictly prohibited.
9.2. General Limitation
CONNECTIFY IOTY OU shall not be liable for:
- Incorrect or unauthorized use of the App;
- External Wi-Fi or BLE signal anomalies;
- Service interruptions, updates, or force majeure events;
- Data loss caused by user error or device failure.
10. Changes to the Terms
These Terms may be updated at any time.Users will be notified of material changes through the App.
Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Platform Compliance
The App complies with:
- Apple App Store Review Guidelines;
- Google Play Developer Policies;
- Applicable data protection and privacy regulations.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia.Any dispute arising from these Terms shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Estonia.
